Hotel desks are veneer. Airbnb tables are laminate. Neither survives a 150 °C plate. GLATT MAT is a heat-resistant silicone and cotton mat that rolls into a tube the size of a water bottle and turns any flat surface into a workable one.

Magnetic corners hold it to the edge of a table. A folded seam along one side gives you a soft roll to press collars and cuffs over. It goes back in the bag damp without complaining.
